As you stand before this majestic structure, your guide will capture the perfect shot, framing the ethereal beauty of the temple against the dramatic backdrop of Mount Agung. The Lempuyang Temple is also considered one of the island’s oldest and most revered temples.

Tirta Gangga was built in 1946 by I Gusti Bagus Jelantik , the ruler of the Karangasem Kingdom. He designed it as a place of peace and reflection, combining Balinese Hindu symbolism with his love for water and gardens. The palace’s name comes from the words Tirta (holy water) and Gangga (the river Ganges), symbolizing the holy water of life and reflecting its spiritual importance. In its early years, Tirta Gangga acted as a resting place for the royal family and their guests. Despite significant damage from a volcanic eruption in 1963, Tirta Gangga was restored and remains a vital cultural and spiritual landmark in Bali.
